Places of interest - Eastern Coastline
After the Provincial Highway 30 was built, the journey from Yuli to Changbin in Taitung was reduced to just 30 minutes by car. This means that when you visit Yuli you can not only visit all the sights in the Huadong Valley but also extend the journey all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Some scenic spots worth visiting on the eastern coastline are King Kong Avenue, Sanxiantai and Shitiping, to name just a few. Why not end your trip to the beautiful Huadong Valley with a romantic view of the Pacific Ocean!

Wushibi Harbour
28km from the homestayWhilst travelling around the Huadong area, many travellers look forward to being able to enjoy both the mountains and the ocean. Not only can you enjoy the mountain scenery on the Provincial Highway 9, but you can also travel along the Provincial Highway 11 and cross the Provincial Highway 30 to admire the endless Pacific Ocean. You might also pay a visit to Wushibi Fishing Harbour in Changbin, Taitung. From this harbour you can see the largest columnar volcanic rock in Taiwan, a beautiful reef protruding from the sea in the distance.I believe many people are a little curious about the name of the harbour, as it means "Stone Nose". Because Ningpu Village in Changbin Township is a natural fishing port formed by a promontory extending deep into the sea, and the rock juts outward like a human nose, hence it was awarded the name "Stone Nose".

King Kong Avenue
38.5km from the homestayEast 13 Township Road, which is about 85km down the Provincial Highway 11, is part of Zhongyong Bicycle Trail. Here, there is a section of road with no telephone poles on both sides and an exquisite landscape surrounded by mountains and ocean. This area has also been nicknamed Mr. Brown Avenue due to its appearance in a commercial for Mr. Brown Coffee. From this section of the road, you can gaze at the handsome "King Kong Mountain" of the western Coastal Mountain Range, which explains how this avenue got its original name. With terraced fields on both sides of the road, the scenery changes with the seasons, so however many times you visit you will never tire of it.

Sanxiantai
42 km from the homestayThe name Sanxiantai means “Three Immortals Platform”, and is a bridge extending out to sea. Along the Provincial Highway 11, look towards the dragon-shaped Sanxiantai Ocean Footbridge in Chenggong Township, Taitung. Standing below the bridge and looking to the distance, you can see eight magnificent arch bridges in succession, extending out into the horizon onto an island. When you change your angle and look around whilst standing on the bridge itself, you can feel the power of the tide from the Pacific Ocean gushing in and out. Sanxiantai is also the perfect place to watch the sun rise at the dawn of each new year.Legend has it that when the Eight Immortals crossed the sea, Li Tie-guai, He Xian-gu, and Lu Dong-bin used to rest here and left an everlasting imprint, thus it was named ”Three Immortals Platform”. Whether the legend is true or not, this place and its scenery are wildly romantic and so it is worthwhile to slow down our paces and explore the area at our leisure.
